Driving Tests
Theory and Practical Tests: Before you can apply for the practical test you first have to pass both parts of the Theory Test. This consists of the Multiple Choice and the Hazard Perception Test. You must hold a valid driving licence to book a test. Multiple Choice: You will be asked 50 questions from a memory bank of approx. 1200 questions. Each question will have several answers you must select the correct answer/answers from the list by touching the screen, some questions will require more than 1 correct answer. You must score at least 43 correct answers to pass this part and complete the questions with 57 minutes. Hazard Perception Test: You will be shown a 14 video clips of real life driving scenarios, each clip will have atleast 1 developing hazard but 1 clip will contain 2 developing hazards. To respond to a hazard to click the mouse button, the earlier you respond to the hazard the more points you will score up to a maximum of 5 points per hazard. You must score atleast 43/75. After completing both parts of the test you will be given the results by the Test Centre staff you must pass both parts of the test at the same time to obtain your pass certificate.
Practical Test: You will be greeted by the Examiner at the start of your test who will check your licence and ask you to sign a declaration on the test form. You will then be required to read a number plate at 20.5 metres for the old style number plate or 20 metres for the new style. Two vehicle safety check questions will be asked at the start of the test. During the test the examiner will asses you on your general driving and two manoeuvres chosen from reverse around a corner, turn in the road, bay parking or parallel parking. You may also be asked to carry out an emergency stop. To pass the test you must attain less than 16 minor faults and no major faults.
